# Share what Claude Code builds: publish HTML from Claude Code to a private link

> Connect Claude Code to Outbox with one command, then publish the reports, docs and HTML pages it builds as private, versioned links. Works interactively and headless in CI.

Claude Code is great at turning a repo into a readable HTML report: an architecture overview, a migration plan, a test summary. Outbox gives that file a private URL you can send, update and track, instead of a path on your laptop.

## Set it up (2 minutes)

1. Add the remote connector from your terminal (command below).
2. Start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose outbox and sign in through the browser. Pick the permissions you want to grant.
3. Ask: "publish a test page to my Outbox". Claude Code replies with the URL; the page is private until you share it.

```
claude mcp add --transport http outbox https://mcp.out-box.dev/mcp
```

Prefer a skill? Install it once and Claude Code learns "publish this to my Outbox"; the first publish gives you a link to connect your account:

```
npx skills add jonathanleiva15/out-box-skills
```

## Headless: publish from CI or a cron job

Non-interactive runs can't do a browser sign-in, so they use an API key scoped to one folder, stored as a CI secret. Let Claude Code write the page with `claude -p`, then publish it with the CLI:

```
claude -p "Read ./test-results and write a one-page HTML summary of failures to summary.html"
outbox publish summary.html --slug ci/test-summary
```

Publishing to the same slug on every run keeps one URL with a new version each time, so the link you shared with the team never goes stale.

## What people publish from Claude Code

- "Write an HTML overview of this codebase for the new contractor and publish it to clients/acme/onboarding", then a [per-recipient link](https://out-box.dev/en/per-recipient-links) for the contractor.
- A PR or release summary page for a reviewer who doesn't read diffs.
- Incident postmortems drafted from logs, shared with a passphrase and a 7-day expiry.
- Anthropic's "HTML instead of Markdown" output style: rich pages are easy to make, and Outbox is how you share them outside your machine.

## Claude Code artifacts vs Outbox

Claude's own sharing works inside a Claude organization or through a public link without a passphrase or expiry. Outbox adds the controls you need for people outside your org: one link per person, open alerts, expiry, revoke. ## Frequently asked questions

### Does Claude Code need an API key?

Not with the remote connector or the skill: both connect through your browser. Use an API key only for headless runs (CI, cron) and scope it to one folder.

### Can Claude Code update a page it published yesterday?

Yes. It reads the page, makes the change and republishes to the same slug. The URL stays the same and the previous version is kept.
