Outbox vs DocSend: tracked links for the work your AI agent builds
DocSend made the tracked link the standard way to send a deck. It assumes a person builds the file and uploads it. In 2026 the proposal, the audit and the client report are increasingly written by an AI agent, as HTML. Outbox is the delivery layer for that work.
Key differences
| What we compare | Outbox | DocSend |
|---|---|---|
| What you send | Live HTML pages your agent builds: proposals, reports, docs, decks | Files you upload: PDFs, slide decks, documents |
| Who publishes | Your agent, in one command from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client | A person, through the DocSend app |
| Updating after you send | The agent republishes to the same link; every version is kept, with a diff | Upload a new version of the file |
| Access control | Private by default, passphrase, expiration, revocation | Email verification, passcode, expiration, download control |
| Engagement tracking | Opens per recipient link (who, how often, when), with an email alert; no time-per-page analytics | Per-visitor, page-by-page analytics |
| Pricing | Free plan; Pro $5/mo; Team $49/mo per team (early access) | Standard about $45/user/mo billed annually ($65 monthly) |

When DocSend is the better fit
- Your process runs on PDFs and decks built by hand.
- You need to know exactly which person viewed which page, or you run data rooms.
When Outbox is the better fit
- Your agents already produce the proposal or report as HTML and exporting to PDF throws away the interactivity.
- You want to fix and republish after sending, without a new attachment.
- You want a free plan to start. Many teams keep DocSend for files and use Outbox for agent-built pages.
